Baffled, question?
« on: February 14, 2010, 03:59:24 AM »
So. . . took my baffle out of my exhaust. Cycle X exhaust (I think?). Is it me or does this baffle seem a bit restrictive? Any other options? Anybody recommend fabricating another baffle?

MAC baffle.

Not much "Baffle" to it, huh?  ;D

What I would suggest is getting a actual baffle tube:

Cut it to the right length to replace that two-tube set up, and than just cut the crap out and weld in the perforated tube in their place. Wrap with some muffle packing and you'll have a much better sound. It won't be nearly as tinny of a sound I'd be willing to bet.

I would just drill a bunch of holes on the baffle you have. It'll clear some restricition and give it some better sound.

ya, that baffle is pretty worthless, if you wanted to fab something better these guys will have almost everything you need http://www.coneeng.com/mufflers.html
i took it a step further and made a new shorter can from stainless and went with the 2.5" perforated core wrapped in ss wool

So all a baffle does is muffle the sound and produce back pressure, right? I actually don't mind the sound of the pipe, my only concern is the 2 90 degree turns exhaust gasses have to take to exit the exhaust. So, yeah, I think drilling some holes may be a good solution.
