I just got back from the Dundas swap meet.
If you have a HD, it could have been worthwhile.
But if you have only a Honda, or a Kawasaki or a Yamaha or a BMW or a ? there was NOTHING of interest there.
Sorry - my opinion only (and of one other guy who left early like me)

With the possible exception of the babe with the low cut t shirt selling HD wear.

I'd guess swap meets were just that originally..you took parts you didn't need and looked for somebody to swap with. I guess that still happens but mostly people just bring motorcycle parts and or whole bikes they want to sell.
The best meet I've been to in Ontario is the Milton meet, tho I've heard the Barrie one is pretty good. I've been told by friends that some of the U.S. swap meets are huge with hundreds of vendors.
Some of the swap meets here are pretty pitiful with (no offense) mostly Harley stuff...
Mostly tho' you might find that unobtainium part you've been looking for cheap..or not :)

At a Swap Meet: If you are a vendor, you have a space, on the lawn or on a table, to show your stuff. People (the buyers) wander around and if they are interested, bargain and pay you for your stuff in dollars. You don't actually swap, except for cash. To do otherwise would be to complex. I have a fender, but you have a piston, etc. That is why they invented money. Too bad money is getting "cheaper" all the time (because of inflation).

Hi gang. The best swap event for vintage Japanese parts I have experienced  is the annual event held at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Track near Columbus Ohio.It is called Vintage Motorcycle Days and also includes a full weekend of vintage bike racing,an added bonus for road racing fans.It will be held July 9-11 this year. This event is a reasonable drive for Southern Ontario residents. The swap area is huge and is also a great spot for vintage British bits.In Ontario, the annual Paris Rally held by the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group is the best I have found for Japanese parts. This year it will be held the weekend of June18-20.Best finds are on the Fri. and Sat.      Sun. is getaway day and many vendors have left by Sat. evening.I have been an occasional vendor at the Paris event and am planning to be this year.   Rock On
