What is the most sought after 750 next to sandcast
« on: February 15, 2010, 08:20:11 AM »
What CB750 would you think is the most sought after next to the sandcast?  Matter of preference?  I would have to vote for the K1.  Would you vote for year of the 1st like the flake paints etc, or the last of a body style like the K6?  I would have to go with the K1 because it was the year of many last  :'(

* Last year for the jewels in the speedo/tach
* Last year for the beautiful Candy Ruby paint
* Last year for the painted fork ears and headlight bucket
* Last year for the shorter 300 handlebars
* Last year for the plastic chain guard
* Last year for the black shock bodies
* Last year for the rear turns with no stems
* Last year for the awesome 300 pipes

Did I forget anything ???

I'm partial to red K1's however I'm working on a K0 with a sandcast so I'm somewhat confused.

I agree, especially early K0, a lot of parts are sandcast except the two most important ones. :)

I would actually have to say the 75F model. There are a lot of K bikes but not as many F bikes.

The Diecast K0 is the most sought after CB750, after the sandcast. A really good diecast K0 will sell for $10K plus, or about twice that of a good K1, (my favorite) or K2.

The K3 to K6 (while even better bikes, technically) will go for under $3K usually, unless they're "as new".

The F0 and F1 will go for less again, (great bikes, but not collectable) the F2/F3 is a hand grenade just waiting for a careless owner to pull the pin, so it falls into the F0/F1 price range. (cheap)

The K7/K8, while being the most "evolved" of all the CB750's, was seen as "too little, too late" by the market at the time, (whooped by DOHC Kawasaki's and Suzuki's sales-wise) and unless you're wearing rose colored glasses, a good one shouldn't fetch more than a couple of grand, tops.  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

I like the look of all 69 to 76 K's. Never cared to much for the 77 to 78 K's. Just didn't like the styling change. I've got a K6, so right now its my favorite.

I'm like you, not much into the K7/8's even though they are SOHC's.  Even though your K6 has a non OEM seat and 4 into 1, It really is a nice looking bike!!  Great job and nice bike dhall57!

You're welcome.  That's a good price on the seat.  I know what you mean about the pipes.  I bought a new set of HM341's for my K6 which I no longer have and just ordered a new set of 300's for my K1 resto.

I must agree Terry.  Good points.  I know and fully agree the cast and K0 are worth more than the K1's but what I find so interesting about the K1's is, it had more of last year things that will be remembered before the K2 transition for a bike that was still in production.  I think the K1 was the last year of more things of one model than any other 750 K model.

The Diecast K0 is the most sought after CB750, after the sandcast. A really good diecast K0 will sell for $10K plus, or about twice that of a good K1, (my favorite) or K2.

Where did you get you OEM pipes mafd2. I see where David Silver Spares offer A complete pipe kit including all hardware needed for installation for around $1200 Thats alot of $$$ but that seems like it might be best way to go. I think OEM pipes are still available from Honda, but looks like you have to buy everything piece by piece.

Are you sure the pipes from DSS include all flanges and hardware for $1200?  If so thats a deal.  You just have to be careful with the shipping cost from the UK especially on 4 pipes $$$.  Another thing is, if a pipe is damaged it will cost you $$$ to send it back and may be a long time without a pipe  :o.  Did you try www.cmsnl.com in the Netherlands?  Those 341's are readily available in the US.  Here are 2 ebay links for the pipes and all mounting hardware.  They are priced better than what I normally see for 341'1 which are usually $1200-$1300.  Good luck
