The tricks of perspective on the outdoor shots make them hard to tell they are models.  Amazing.

At first I thought, "Oh... nice cars."

Then, "Wow, they found old drive ins and soda shops that were kept like they were in the 50s."

Then I thought, "Wow, those cars are awfully clean."

Then, "Of course they're clean, who takes the time to restore them that nice just to let them get dirty."

Then, "Holy cow!   :-[  It all makes sense now."

Yeah, Awesome Details! I'd seen it once before over on the HondaTwins.net (posted by mnellis over there) Cool though AND enjoyed seeing them again. Lots of cool looking cars, but the 55' Crown Victoria is a REALLY choice job (I thought THAT was one of the best looking Fords EVER produced. ;)

That is exactly what I was thinking.  Truly works of art, not only in the perfectly constructed and painted cars, but all of the buildings and impecable details.  I can only dream of having such talent.  Photography is amazing, getting the lighting and exposure timed just right when the lens has to be stopped down for the depth of field!  WOW!

Back in the early 1960's I had a cousin who could take the model car kits and build them with opening door, hoods and trunks (before those features were actually introduced) and detail them out with sparkplug wires, gas lines and the likes. He would also take some of them and customize the body of the cars and do it in the way that SOME did the real things. The details were amazingly correct! His paint jobs were something to see as well. Sadly, I have no idea whatever happened to him. He was a distant cousin who lived in California and lost track of him over the years. Quite a talent though!

Here's an article on the fellow who builds the sets and takes the photos. Interesting bio and job. Very cool looking, thanks!

Don R,

You should sell the photos to a post card manufacturer. I think they would make perfect retro post cards!

I believe the photographer states in the interview article that he uses his collection of over 300 Danbury & Franklin Mint models.

The cars are die cast metal I believe.  I think the Danburys are frequently cast in pewter.
