Two words come to mind, "ridiculous" and "disgusting"

5 screens up front ??? c'mon, that's why they make double din multimedia head units. It looks like a mess.

the one I want would be a M998 Cargo.

there would have to be some drive train swapping because of the low top speed, and some tinkering here and there on the motor.

but I think it would make a good strong truck. Back in 2003 I had a chance to get one of these with a missing (crunched up) front end and no engine for $5000.  someone got there a day before me and it was gone.

did they add an extension on the roof for more head room??  MAN that thing is hideous!!  i wonder where the front clip came from...

wern't the h1's prized because of their ground clearance and off camber stability??  looks to me like those running boards and gay bumpers would take all that away!!  and wtf are all those screens for?  it's not a tornado tracker!!!

and yes IC, the cargo's are badass!  i would swap the drivetrain from a 2500HD in there though, my buddy worked on humvee's in iraq and said the motor and trans were the biggest POS's around!  slow and they broke down all the time!  i do want a H3T alpha though, i love those damn things!!!

dude, i love the h3t alpha's!!!  my buddy has a h3 i-5 and that thing is MEAN!!  35's wrapped around hutchinson beadlock wheels with NO lift!!!  just some proper suspension upgrades, but no lifting of any kind!  and he can wheel the #$%* out of it, iron front diff, lockers front and rear, 4:1 low, 4.10's front and rear, BADASS rig, and apparently there's even more updates and better parts in the h3t's!!

Did he upgrade his steering linkage?

All the Hummers I've worked on were notorious for wimpy linkage.

I'd like a Military 4 door version with the small bed. Maybe.

haha!!!

well this guy is def. a smart cookie, and a damn good fabricator, so ya, he upgraded the necessary parts!  plus, GM hooked his warranty up!  he was out wheelin HARD, and he poked a big ass hole through his front AND rear diffs (different occasions).  he took it to the dealer both times, and talked the service manager into upgrading the front diff to iron so he wouldn't have to deal with it again and the rear diff to a 14 bolt, IIRC, both under warranty!!!  he also got them to upgrade his stock underbody protection to GM's heavy duty steel units for free too after he cracked the piss out of all his composite ones!!  granted all his upgrades weigh in at QUITE a bit, who cares??

i'll try to find some pics here in a little bit!

When I read the post title I was thinking, I don't want anykind of flu. But then I looked and that truck made me a bit nauseous. But, thats what you get with the lifting of the "dont ask, dont tell" policy.

I'd take a Unimog over one of those any day.

And this is just a plain silly waste of a Unimog chassis.

yup, hutchinson wheels with military spec beadlocks, sick setup!  the wheel's weight 55 lbs, and the 35" tires weight 77 lbs, so with all 5 wheels and tires he's pushing 660 lbs of rolling inertia!  haha

I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money, I'd rather spend it on an M998 cargo. isn't that truck around 20-30 thousand?

I'm way too rough on my off road vehicles.  I bet I could break that truck within a few hours.
for that matter, I bet I could break a humvee within a few hours. HAha! :D :D

I used to have a video of me beating the #$%* out of my old isuzu trooper, that thing could take some #$%*!!
I finally killed it by jumping it off a berm and into a large pine tree... after the 5th time I ended up cracking the rad in half and it overheated blowing the head gasket.

ya know IC, he is pretty tough on his vehicles as well, but it's still his daily driver.  and the way he treats it is not usual for someone who drives it everyday, so that thing is tough!  the h3t alpha is just as tough if not tougher than the h3, yet another reason i want it, other than its perfect utility!!!   ;D

I'm sure it's a fine vehicle, but it just doesn't appeal to me like something with no frills does.

too many buttons, switches, computers, leather and A/C make me nervous  ;D

That'd be my stand on it as well.

That H3 looks nice but I'd be worried about all of my gps, heated seats, engine sensors, etc when I plow that thing into a river.

GM had a good thing going with the original H1 but they turned it into a glorified trail Escalade. Not dissin your dude's ride.... just too fancy for my taste.

Now I have seen a few H2's that were trail built..... built one myself..... but none of them ever compared to the beatings that the H1's could take.

You talked about composite guards and #$%*..... That's GM corporate cheapness. #$%* that.  :D

ya guys, i understand where you're coming from.  GM puts all these bells and whistles on their rigs, so that if anything breaks, it's damn near always electrical related!!  hell the fuse/relay blocks on these are a NIGHTMARE to work on and diagnose!!!  oh well, modern creature comforts that computers provide for us...

challenging all hummers to a tug of war.this is a 94 international,240 cummins with a 9speed constant mesh road ranger, full diff locks,hendrickson/eaton,,green factory tinted glass and a beer freezing a/c unit, ive driven this #$%* for the last eight years about 250 klms per day!!it began its life in 94 as a cement truck,,its a noisey/harsh/vibratey old truck with no manners, its soon to be replaced with either an isuzu or a mitsubishi,"equivilent"which will be quiet, refined, ego freindly, syncromesh ,and a bit poofy!!ill get used to the new comer, but itll never be half the truck the international ACCO was,its gonna have to earn my respect, these are a truly heavy duty australian truck.,this truck tares at 10,600 kilo and can lift 15,000 kilos, legal road gross is 22,500kilo.it does it all so effortlessly.the old bastard.
