My opinion is the larger oval-shaped pods will tend to reduce the surging at steady speed problems some (most) riders will encounter.

I use K&N oval pods on my K8,of course went thru the re-jetting process. Here is a link, I actually measured my carb throats and went to the K&N website, got the P/N and then had O'reilly auto parts special order them. I think it was a bit cheaper, they are expensive but they should last forever. Here is a pic on my K8.

If the filter is reasonably free flowing, then the air intake should not be upset, with the possible exception of WOT where the flow characteristics might get challenged.

ya theyre not as nice as the other ones, but when it comes to performance, practicality, and all that jazz, would it be better to go with a pod filter?

I was stepping on a slippery subject, again my bad, let's tackle the pods and the all balls then we can deal with oil !

are there any better types/affordable ones? i think spending 200 on a set of four is a little to much.
