so if you knew someone in KS to "buy" your bike and title it in KS, technically you could "buy" it back from them with a KS antique title, correct?

That's how ITS works.  You sell them the bike and they register it in a state that doesn't issue titles on old bikes (Alabama in my case) and sell it back to you.  You take that registration (and I think they gave me a Bill of Sale too) to DMV and they have to crap a title since you obtained it legally.

That said, ITS became way more expensive over the last year.  I also pretty much shy away at this point from anything without a title.  Sucks because I'm surrounded by non title states.

its really a shame that more states don't allow antique titling. think of all those complete SOHC4s that could be saved from becoming parts bikes... almost makes me wanta cry :'(
