Hey all, just wanted to stop in and say hi. I've been lurking around for months soaking up all the info in the forums. A few months ago a friend brought a K8 750 by the house and asked if I wanted it cause he knew I had been looking for one for awhile, not exactly a K8, but any would do :) I bought it and and have been trying to get it back on the road. It came with an extra K1 engine and the factory K8 engine had mysteriously locked up so I went ahead and swapped them out. The bike had been sitting since '03 and had been out in the weather so it looked like crap and was almost green instead of the factory burgandy. I haven't got any up to date pics but have a few of it when I rolled it on the carport. It had 1in apes on it and a mac 4-1 with no baffle. I've got a few other pics from the bikes I revived last year.

terrible shape, what a set of handlebars, gave $300 including extra motor and has a clear title

I'll take some current pics soon, I took it to the bare frame and painted and started working my way back up. I've gotten the K1 engine running after an extensive PD carb cleaning and seems to run pretty good. I had no idea what was wrong with it if anything and just crossed my fingers, mystery engine. Gonna do the cafe thing with this bike, I've been dying to build one for awhile. I'm in the middle of upgrading the r/r and converting all the K8 630 chain and stuff to the earlier K1 530 stuff. Kinda strange, most of the posts I've read are about going to later engines in earlier frames. Talk about freakin loud. This thing didn't have any baffle in it what so ever and was just too loud. I took a ford oil filter and cut the canister off, tacked the inner perforated tube to the threaded end part, and tapped it into the megaphone and put a self tapping screw through the side to hold it in place. Surprisingly fit well and sounds pretty good. Looks kinda neat lookin too, I'll post some pics.

'72 Honda CL350 Scrambler, restored last year, fun little bike, was gonna cafe it but went back somewhat original, it had all the cb350 pipes and stuff on it when I got. Sat in a basement since '82 and looked alot like the K8 in the other pics. Had 5500 original miles, originally the candy green/gold lookin color. Tough little bikes.

'86 Yamaha Vmax, these things have ridiculous power and are a blast to ride. 145 hp from the factory back in '86. More of a novelty bike than anything, not really good for anything but smoky rolling burnouts ;) This one I bought with a bad 2nd gear. I loved it but it was like ridin a cow, seat was round like a 5 gal bucket, 130 lbs heavier than a sohc 750. It needed a reverse gear like a goldwing :) Fixed, rode a while, and resold. I must have another :o

'83 Honda Shadow VT750, my bobber style bike, pretty strong for what it was, similar hp as the cb750s but a v-twin. Rode it for awhile with hardtail struts, not really worth it, looked cool as hell though

Anyways, I love old bikes. I just can't get enough of them. I rode my buddies mint K5 750 quite a bit a few years ago and have been wanting one every since.  ;) Dano

Welcome to the forum, cant wait to see how the K8 turns out. i like your other bikes, those 350's are a blast and super easy to work on. i bought my first bike 3 years ago (CB350) and rebuilt it to great running condition. thats what started my addiction to vintage honda motorcycles. keep us posted on your 750 progress.

Finally took some more pics after a day of work on the bike. It still needs alot but is getting there.

Here's a pic of the oil filter baffle for the mac, disregard the rusty shocks, I'm wanting some early ones with the nice chrome covers like I put on my 350.
