just intorducing myself

Hello everyone,
Nice to have found this forum...I just recently found a CB750k2 that I thought was in good shape and made the mistake of listening to the BS story of the seller. It started out "This was my Dad's bike..bla bla bla". I had been looking for a good 750 for some time but only half hearted. Anyway I bought it, paid too much then after getting it home, realized not only did it need new tires and a battery, but new sprockets, new chain, complete rebuild on all four carbs, wiring was worse than shadetree by a drunk with a busted meter, even though all lights did work. The brakes were shot and half dozen other things to fix. Anyway 1 month later and $1700.00 lighter in the pocket, I just about have things all worked out. Now the clutch started breaking loose completely at thenabout 75mph, although it holds solid through all the gears, pushing each one to about 7g's before shifting. That's what got me to looking around on the web for some answers when I found this forum.

Anyway, this is my 3rd 750SOHC-K model...I had a brand new one in 74, a used 78 back in 1990 and then this 72 now.  I had to have the then brand new Goldwing in 75, so sold the 74 and got the wing...Although I really enjoyed the wing on long trips and loved the power, I still missed nimbleness of the 750. I had come off of two Yamaha's before the 74. One of the Yamaha's was a RD350R5 hence the nickname twostrokes....picked that up a long long time ago. I'll stick with the wing on my cross country trips, but now will have the 750 to "play" on around town.

BTW if anyone likes visitors, whenever I can I stop by when traveling. Hope to do a few cross country rides this year starting in April. So just let me know and if I am in the area will visit.

Hey TS48 welcome to the SOHC4 forums, hope you get your 750 clutch issue figured out. you wont find a better place for answers to you questions than here. right now i'm in the market for a 2 stroker to run around on. i really want an RD350 but they seem to be highly sought after around here, and elsewhere for that matter. i did locate a Suzuki GT550 for sale near me for a good price. any recommendations for a good old 2 stroke? if your ever riding through Eastern Nebraska I'd be happy to show you some hospitality. you can find more friendly SOHC4 members here http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?board=62.0 that would gladly help you out and show you around their neck of the woods.

Hi Hotshot,
Thanks for the invite, will keep it in mind in my travels. I know I am making a trip to Las Vegas and to St. George Utah probably first part of April and will be going to Sturgis in Aug for the rally. Hope to fit a couple more this year also. So maybe Nebraska could be in the mix.
Don't know of any 2strokes available right now. I also looked for quite some time for another RD350, but couldn't find anything in decent shape unless they wanted my left nut along with my bank account for it.  It was one fun bike I had a 70 bought new, well almost, my neighbor bought it, had it about 2 weeks and got afraid of it, so I bought it from him at about 2/3 the list price. He just wanted rid of it.
I took it to the Philippines with me and had a blast on all the mountain roads with the switchback and all. Too bad the oil pump went out while on a ride and I didn't know it until the engine seized.  After getting a quickie shadetree repair, I sold it and got the Honda 750k4 brand new off the floor for $1200 bucks. That's when I got hooked . Then I met the GL1000. I had the first one that ever touched the pavement in the USA. It had come over as a contest bike between a Honda Dealer in SDiego and a local radio station. It of course, was rigged. The winner was a big shot car dealer. After they had the hoop da la over the contest, I went to the Honda dealer and told the manager, I didn't care what kinda game they were playing with their contest, but I wanted to buy the bike. The actual arrival dates for the bikes were not for another 4 months and I didn't want to wait. So he gave me a price and I bought it on the spot.  An x-wife (now) allowed it to get ripped off with her consent of course while I was out of town. That was the final straw that made her an X. Enough of my rambling....Will get in and try some adjustments on the clutch this weekend and see what happens. Not gonna mess with it too much before I just replace the plats and springs with heavy duty stuff and put an end to the problem for good.
