Engine Stand adapter for CB750 Engine

Saw this on my local craigslist, and thought I would share.  :)

CB750 Engine Stand Adapter. Get that ’69-’78 SOHC 750 engine up off the floor or off the workbench! Now you can work at waste level with this adapter!
The adapter is laser-cut 1/4” steel and powder coated gloss black. Grade 5 hardware to mount the adapter to your automotive engine stand is included. Use the stock rear engine hanger bolts to attach adapter to engine. NOTE: This adapter is known to fit the SOHC only. Check dimensions carefully if using for a different application.

In stock and ready to ship. Shipping is USPS flat rate of $13.95, and Washington State residents must pay $4.28 in sales tax. If you are viewing this in any other country, shipping would of course be higher.

that thing is SWEET!!!  i just took the adapter plate that came with mine and welded the mounting arms to the side...  works well for me and it was free!!

this thing is really badass though!

 Its the diff between a part, and a really facking nice part...

 Take for example, the sidecovers in your siggy..Now imagine how they would look without rounded corners and edges... :o

 Thats right.. they would look like that engine mount... ::)

 maybe some folks like things that way...?

lol, I see what you mean now. Might give more clearance for tools/working room as well  ;)

Looks like about an inch could come off the top, too.. looks like a serious knuckle-splitter piece.. :o   :o

 Maybe its just me, but when I build something, I want it to look really nice, before my name goes on it..

i'm saying it's badass that someone would put the effort into making a piece like that!

i agree the looks could be improved, but for the average DIY'er, making up their own stand isn't something they can accomplish or something they wanna pay to have made.  $45 for this isn't a bad deal, and if it works, you can always modify it yourself if you have the resources!  but i def. agree with the top needing to be shaved down and rounded.  bloody knuckle central!

I am gonna have to suggest, that if you cant bolt or weld an adaptor like that together, you should not open up the engine..

 That said tho, if you feel like buying one & not doing the work.. go for it..

I am gonna have to suggest, that if you cant bolt or weld an adaptor like that together, you should not open up the engine..

 That said tho, if you feel like buying one & not doing the work.. go for it..

Actually, if you use that one on the engine stand, you CAN'T open up the engine....just the top end...  :o

It does have enough meat to drill a few holes on top to attach something to support the upper case 1/2 to allow bottom to be removed.

 NEW INFO..
 For the DIY engine stand guys..
 For a VERY NICE looking engine stand try this. Get a pce of 6 inch Aluminum channel.. the stuff I have is about 1/4 inch in the center and about 3/8 on the sides.

 You need a pce about 8.5 inches long, go an inch longer if you want to include a support to allow splitting cases.

 Cut the 8.5 inch pce down the center of the channel.(will cut on table saw) Then lay out your rear engine mount hole about7/8 from cut edge, on 183mm centres.. check against engine!  You must notch out some of the middle to clear behind kicker, and to re & re sprocket. round your upper corners nicely.

 Now with these drilled and loosely mounted the thicker parts of the angle will face rearwards. they should be past the rear joint of the 2 casehalves, if carb drainhose bracket is in place and unbent, you need a bit of room in the middle. Drill and tap at least 2 holes in the thick portions of the mounts, then connect all together with a plate across the back.. this plate must have a pin or tube fastened to it to fit into your engine stand.

 If you can radius the square edges of the 2 aluminum mounts it will look even better... nice looking mount!

we might need to see a picture of that 754...  i TOTALLY spaced when i made up mine on splitting the cases, i thought everything was ready to go, so hopefully i can come up with a good solution!

I just set up saw horses with a sheet of 1 inch mdf on top. It's about 8 ft long so I have plenty of dissasembly room. To prop the motor up a 2X4 under the front botom motor mount works well. The only time I have an issue when it comes time to torque things down. I just have my dad or a budy hold the motor for that issue. May have to do a bracket like that for top end rebuilds though.

Does anyone one know centre distance between the rear engine mount holes?

Looks like 195 mm to me, but I'm measuring with engine in bike and bike leaned behind the garage.

I can measure it for you, Dorothy's engine block is hanging in my shop. 

I adapted cheap engine stand to do full rotisserie, that way I can do it all on the stand.

Edit:  My bad, I always assume everybody runs 750  ;)

Well now I know what I can do with that spare engine stand!  I like that larger cradle, looks like that will be the way to go!

           would it be possible to get some details on how that black frame piece is made and maybe some photos, it it's not too much trouble?

          The double setup is pretty cool and all, but it looks like the one shown here, would be easier to use and looks to be pretty stable.
