Sport bike tail section on these CB's

Anyone fit a more modern sport bike tail section on a cb?  Any pics?

Haha.. I just made one last night, sort of.

It's a stock F tail section. I removed everything under it. Trunk, fender, grab rail, tail light, turn signals. I filled the hole with a CBR600 tail light, and finished the underside in sheet metal. I'll post some pictures in a bit.

I know its not a whole sportbike tail, but it cleaned up the rear of the bike a ton. I plan on wiring up the 2 bulbs as left and right signals also.








It still needs tunneled a bit behind the tail light so it sits flush over the frame rails, thats tonights project.

I don't think anyone's done it completely yet...

I'm working on it.... and so is DollarBill. Look for his Yellowjacket project. He has pictures of just a minor mock-up.

I don't have squat to show. :'(

How about an 85 Interceptor tail/seat/fender grafted on a CB550.

Somewhere on the site is a picture of a 750/4 with a late model Ducati rear on it, i think it is in Greece or Italy...

Just seems a shame to make an old bike look like a new bike. Probably cost less to just buy a new one, right?

The way I see it eventually all of the old stock seats will be worn out and gone, tanks eventually rust too, lots of original parts are getting hard to find.  New parts sources are always a good thing, is there really a difference between building a custom tank or a custom seat and sourcing one from a newer bike?  It's all personal taste that's being debated here.  I prefer to ride my own bike rather than argue what should or shouldn't happen to someone else's.

You're as right as you want to be.

In my situation this thing was a basket case with no seat, and turned into one of the most comfortable bikes I've ever ridden. The way I look at it I saved an old bike, no shame in that.

For the purist in you my 750 & 400 both are very much stock looking.

i'd feel bad about all the modifcations i've done to my k4, if it were actually all original. k4 frame, k6 motor, k5 swingarm and rear wheel, f0 fork sliders and front wheel, k3 tank.

Yeah, saving an old CB is definitely good thing, and I'm sooo far from being a purist. I firmly believe that motorcycling is all about doing your own thing—both on the road and in the shop. It's just that the mid-70's (before I was born, BTW), is, in my opinion, the high point of the motorcycle aesthetic.
