removing spark plug #3 77 550f?!?
« on: February 24, 2010, 07:10:09 AM »
My deep 18mm socket WILL NOT fit down into the recess where the #3 spark plug sits...and yes, I did remove the little housing where the tach plugs into the head above.  The only other option seems to be to remove the head?  To change a spark plug?  I know this can not be correct.  Do I need a special socket for this?  Mine fits just fine onto the other 3 plugs.

Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

The only thing that works for me is the honda tool.  Check the parts fiche for it.  It's really deep.  I bought a reproduction here: http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/Index_Main_Frame.htm
You'll also find used ones on ebay.

Yep.  You either need the too -kit plug wrench or a thin-walled, deep 18mm socket.  I got one from an auto parts store that fits perfectly.
