*** TIMING PROBLEM ***
« on: February 21, 2010, 08:27:04 AM »
My bike (1970 CB450) has been misfiring, spitting and farting, so I decided to take a closer look today.  I started by checking the valve clearances which were fine. Then I checked the plugs and they were fine too. Next job was to check the condition of the points and adjust the gaps. Done!

Then I connected a test-bulb to the left-hand points and recorded that the light illuminated at the point shown in the photo attached (Timing_1).

Then I connected a test-bulb to the right-hand points and saw that the light illuminated nowhere near the F mark!! (Timing_2).

Anyone know what's going on??? I think I'll have to try a new set of points.
