More help needed with bearing selection...CB350F
« on: February 19, 2010, 09:11:11 PM »
Ok, the letters stamped on my CRANKCASE are: AAABC
The numbers/letters on the CRANKSHAFT are: 3B,2B,2B,2B,3B
The numbers on the RODS are: 2,2,2,2  (the weight code is "C" on all of them)

Based on the letters/numbers, my friend has determined that
I need the following bearings:
1-brown, 3-green (BIG END ROD bearings)
3-yellow, 1-green, and 1-brown (CRANKCASE bearings)

First off, is it possible to determine which bearings I need based on this
information without measuring anything? If so, can anyone verify
that these are indeed the correct bearings?
Before you answer, know that it is not possible to verify with the color
code on the side of the existing bearing, since they are no longer visible.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Dave

The markings you have given for the crankshaft dont make sense, there should be letters and numbers but not next to each other and 4 of 1 with 5 of the other
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Thanks Bryan, but I'm not sure what you are talking about. Besides the numbers
on the outside face of a web (pictured below), there are no other marking on the crank. The letter/number codes I'm referring to are on top of the cranks webs.
Thanks again.
