dude you're talking a whole different animal from the 650 I know and love.

The 'hawks with oil coolers came about a while after mine.  Terry in Australia knows more about them.  Seems to me they won't work without some modifications.

And the answer is............ (drumroll)....................... No.

I got a PM from Brent (BWaller) last week to say he'd bought one to try, and this is his words:

"I got that dohc 650 cooler, you're right it's a nice little cooler. The adaptor has the same diameter mating surfaces for the o-rings, but the large lug on the engine case (filter bolt attaches) interferes with the adaptor. The plate only comes within 4 or 5mm of the case, so I suppose the adaptor could be modded to work, but the inlet/outlet will be underneath at about the 4 o'clock/8 o'clock position. Without spending a lot of time I'd say it would be way easier using the "tried & trued type" you make."

Not trying to drum up business, just sayin'. Cheers, Terry. ;D

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

75 bucks (US dollars of course, not "Pacific Pesos") plus $25.00 shipping for a 6061T6 billet adapter mate, and Mick will chuck in a set of steak knives! ;D

Sure that oil cooler will work - you just have to add some engineering.

1) make a bracket to fit the frame and allow clearance of the oil lines over the header (I went for 1.5" of clearance).
2) Have an adapter from Terry or other after-market company
3) I went for custom-made high-pressure lines because the hose and clamps always leaked and I hate a leak ($25 total)

Total cost - less than $100 (I already had Terry's adapter).

I like that setup but 100 bucks is way more than the 25.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fine price, but my wife wouldn't understand.
I already have a cooler, all I need is an adapter plate.
I have some aluminum blanks to make one but no pattern. and @ 3/4 inch I think they're too thin.

Well of course I'm always open to a "trade" mate, I need a set of K1 gauges, (speedo and tach) if you can find me a set of reasonable ones I'll trade you a complete cooler setup, (adapter, cooler, bracketry, lines etc) hell, I'll even pay the shipping both ways! ;D
