Topic: Thinking about a 350t..... quick question

This guy has a 71ish cb350t.... with title for 450.00... He notes the points are messed up.. but everything else was working before the points went bad.... I own a couple 500's, 550's and 750's...( yes, I'm obsessed)... but never owned a twin.... 350 or otherwise. 

here's my question...  the bike was up on the center stand...in nuetral...wheel spun free.. but I couldn't get the trans to move up in gears.... 1 down and 1 up (back to nuetral)....but nothing more.......    owner noted that these bikes don't shift up and down in gears unless the wheel is moving....  my bikes shft up and down no problem... is this a truism of the 350t's??

not sure about a 350t but pretty much any bike that's been sitting will probably need the rear wheel to spin to loosen things up in the transmission.
Remember that you've got the shift drum, forks and all of those other moving parts you're trying to move without any oil flow and probably dry from sitting for a while.  I'd try spinning the wheel foreward and backward for a while before attempting to shift the tranny through the gears, when you're ready to shift make sure the wheel is spinning in the right direction....

I have a 400t I built up and it shifts through the gears fine with out the wheel moving.  I now that it it is not the same bike but thought it might help.

I am in Tacoma also, close to the University of Puget Sound.

That's a trait of the Honda twins, pretty much across the board. If you bump and jiggle the rear wheel while playing with the gearshifter, you should be able to hit all 5 gears, though: just gotta move the countershaft sprocket around a little while shifting. They shift poorly when sitting still, especially from 1st into Neutral when the engine is running, another very common trait they had until about the last year of manufacture (then they changed the shift drum to make it better).

Actually.....I have no idea... I guess I called it a 350T due to the "T"win ... I could be wrong...

           Just wondered, if I was missing something? Not a big deal, I wasn't trying to question it to disrupt, it DOES make it clear that you aren't talking about the Four. I was just curious, you know?

We call it a 350t to differentiate from the 350f, so people don't get confused.
We probably should call them a 350k1, k2 etc, though.

    Mark, I kinda wondered if that was it. But, there were (and still are, I'm sure) models that I wasn't aware of and I try to learn about as many as my feeble mind will absorb. Doesn't make any difference to ME on what they are called, long as I know what it is that I may try to assist someone with, you know? I mean, like "oldhondarider" noted that it was a 71ish 350 and that tells what is needed, for anyone who might be able to offer assistance.

Yeah, but people get confused on years of bikes, too, I've seen people talk about their '76 350f's... their 74 350t's, etc....

           Ha! Ha! I liked that last remark, "The woman I bought my 350F from thought it was a twin" Those kind of thoughts could really mess you up, when ordering parts.

Hi Group
     When I am on a twin site I use CB350K4. When I am on a more general site I use CB350 Twin. When I am on a non SOHC4 site I tend to refer to my CB400F1 as a Four Hundred Four.
     The problem with using the K4 is that there are CB750 K4s and many other Ks out there. As a CB400F1 owner I know that the CB350 and CB400 fours both used Fs not Ks. But how many people do?
