Heck no. It's not a resto if you a) don't do the motor and b) don't restore the gauges to "new". It's cleaned up and in good shape, but it's not a restoration. It'd probably fetch $2500, maybe $3K around here.

Ha ha ya, myself I would be more inclined to pay around $479.50.  Maybe I'll put my old 550 up for sale too......hmmmm maybe $14,795??

I should mention that I'm in SF, where prices for everything are double whatever they are in the rest of the world.  :P

It is not worth that much money.  I would say $2,000-$3500 would be a realistic price.   Currently you will not get back what you put into restoreing any Japanese bike unless it is something like a K0 or K1 CB750 or a H1 or H2 Kawasaki.   Just at this point and time Japanese motorcycles are just begining to get noticed and appreciated by the AMCA, and it will take sometime for them to start going for money that approaches what a British bike  of the same year .

I don't know what the bike market is like up there in Moose Jaw, but that's a $1600-$1800 bike around here.

If it runs,$1.00 a cc if not $0.50 a cc for a project, oh yea it aint the 80's anymore. And that is not a restoration! it is rough even if the photos are not that clear $1,500.00 if they are lucky.

Mine is one owner.....clean as a whistle....and dead stock 1976 (except the 4 into 1).  I turned down $1500.00 cash and thought the guy was nuts for offering that much.  Guess I shoulda been insulted. lol... ;) ;) ;)

Seriously......I figure that bike would sell for less than 2 grand down here.
76 550K bought brand new...mothballed for 30 years... and still running great

The last line explains the price:

"We absorbed most of the labour doing this resto so are not open to lower offers."

Sounds like they put more into it then it's worth and are expecting someone else to volunteer to pay for their poor investment.  :D

Yes, I figured similarly($1500-$2000).

In Colorado, getting a correctly titled and roadworthy bike for $1 per cc would be a rare find.

Things I noticed: rusty exhaust clamps, paint on the tank appears a little scratched up, yellowed rear hub, wrong handlebars...  :P

It's not a restoration by any means and they're insane to think they'll get that much out of it.

Its all relative..My 76 nearly mint I paid 2200 and it had bad exhaust.
Ive seen these 72-76 go for low to mid 4s on ebay in the past..
meaning strong economy.
The guy sunk too $ into a 77..poor choice.

No f'n way that bike is worth that bro. I would give $1500-$1600 dollar range. Hey, they took a chance on restoring one of these things and they're gonna have to just eat it. These Japanese bikes just don't fetch that much here. Your older Kawasaki 2 strokes are fetching a little more, but still these guys are gonna be sittin on this one a while. $4795 is a ripoff.

For $4795 you could buy a CB that was ACTUALLY restored...

Vintage Hondas can command top dollar. They don't just have to besand cast 750s or H series Kwacks. I have had amazing luck selling my resto-mods. There are people with money and no time and they are willing to pay for nice stuff. However. The 550 you are looking at is not $4795 worth of "nice'. Unless YOU love it...But then don't say we didn't tell you so.
