CR rep. rev counter?
« on: February 23, 2010, 11:15:22 am »
I need a rev counter to fit the CR750 bracket. I know these are like gold (but I would pay...) but has anyone experience of having a mechanical Veglia 're-faced' to look like the original CR750 kit rev-counter? Veglia make one that works and I know a guy who says he can make a face but he needs a good photo of the original - can anybody help? I bought a Smiths unit complete with original rubber-band mounting that fits perfectly but it is only 2.5 inch diameter and doesn't look right! Honda must have copied the Smiths rubber mounting which pre-dates the ND by years!)

Phil, trawl the Daytona CR750 thread, Kos, Eric and Sam were having a debate about clocks a few pages back and there were posts of the correct tachos and oil gauges. Failing that I can photograph mine but in true Spinal Tap style, mine goes all the way to 14,000  :D

I'll trade you Nikon (large) photos of the 12K ND for a photo and paper tracing of the original tach/oil pressure CR750 mount!  ;)  RR

I got mine from Carsten: http://www.tr4-rally.com/cr750.html - it seems fine, nicely made and perfect fit.

I got my brake unioin from Carsten - sent it back three times before I gave up, they all leaked through the porous casting once the brakes were bled up to a reasonable pressure....shame.

Casting...WTF? Needs to be carved from billet. A solid junk of good alloy. And why does one want to add another junction in a brake set up? One should run the brake lines directly from master cylinder on handle bar to calipers on fork legs. If it is an appearance thing...who cares...probably not going to ride it anyway.

I was amazed to say the least - it oozed brake fluid like a rotting sore! I went with an earls splitter for looks and it allows a good pump but not as good as the single lines on my 450 so once I've finished parading/showing the 750, I'm converting to two independent lines.

RE the rev-counter. Thanks for the great pics of the CR750 kit rev-counter. I have ordered a Veglia and a chap is going to make an ND replica face for it! I will let you know how it goes!
