I do own an SOHC and I ride as much as possible. In the winter I get out once a week to get keep it running. I ride until the family jewels go numb.

In the nicer Weather I usually weekend ride 200-300 miles which is about what my old ass can take in the seat.

well if your old ass can't stand the seat that long, put it on a trailer and haul it down here this summer.  ;D

My 750K2 and my CB500T take about an equal share of the riding when the temps are above 40, that includes, (but not limited to) a 20mi. one way ride to work, around town, beer runs, QS&L, weekend rides, bike shows, and other MC related functions. My Concours takes over when it comes to long trips, and cold weather.

I suppose if you don't have an interest in riding (virtual rider) you wouldn't find the forum very socially entertaining. jmo.  Actually owning and/or riding an SOHC is the commonality that binds us all together.
I'm a seasonal rider and love it. It gives me something to look forward to every year and I don't feel I need to ride through ice & snow conditions to be a 'hardcore' rider.  I think if you ride year round and enjoy it that's great, but I'll even avoid the rain if I can.  No matter how you enjoy them, do just that, ENJOY THEM!   ;) ;)

I ticked "have an sohc and actually ride," although I don't know anyone who rides as much as Andy, at least in New England!  I commuted to work almost everyday on the CB500 this summer, but it was only a four mile commute.  I took lots of short day trips, but only managed 4,000 miles this summer :'(.  I guess it was all that time I took rebuilding and cleaning carbs!

As with many polls can't squeeze my situ into one of the answers. I have an SOHC, not rideable yet, and I have a non-SOHC i do ride.

+1. I hope to be riding the 550F by March 15th.

This is true! Andy's got an IronButt patch if I remember and has ridden - the same damn bike - on like, what, 3 continents?! Maybe just 2 but that still sets the bar pretty high  ;D

I've got a SOHC, but it's not roadworthy yet.
Still needs tires, front fork work, and steering head bearings, but then it should pretty much be ready to go.
My other daily riders (when it's not winter) are an '84 VT700c Shadow, and a modern Triumph Bonneville.

I wouldn't say I'm a hardcore rider, but definitely not just a 'weekend warrior' or poser.
Probably do about 5000-8000 miles over each summer.

i ticked i own a SOHC and actually ride...but during the week its 15 miles total tops, then one 30-60 mile ride on the weekend....
does that count?
maybe im a poser, maybe im a weekend warrior, maybe im a almost real rider.....

If you ride in the rain - respect. That's my only gauge for whether you actually like riding or not.

I think I better retract that statement :) You put on in a season what I do in an average year tooling around town and back and forth to work - in the rain though  ;)

I'm building my 550 as a cafe, but I ride my KLR down to TN, and my avatar is my bike and I in the arctic ocean. The KLR is my daily transport throughout the nicer months, but when it's snowy and icy....and cold...the car is there waiting

The 920 is a day tripper at most, it kills me over 200 miles

My ride is pictured in my avatar (a '77 550K). It's the only bike I own @ present..and excepting my getting maybe an older Goldwing (which is also a SOHC BTW)..that's about all I see for me in the foreseeable future.

@ 65 yrs. old.. I don't ride except when weather and road conditions are nice and favorable.  But my wife (15 years my junior) really enjoys getting out with me two-up..so that gets us out fairly regularly when all's favorable.

I put maybe 1000 miles per year on the bike..mainly day trips on weekends. [I used to ride every day from time I was teen..till in my 30's..commuting..day/weekend tripping..etc.  Had 2 or 3 bikes @ a time.  Those days are gone now..especially since moving to temperate Colorado from So. California].

Since going back to gym regularly over the past 6-months or so though..have developed more strength-stamina overall.  So maybe I'll want to ride longer-further this season??  We'll see I guess. Don't think I have the cajones to ride as fast..taking risks..as when I was younger..which is probably a good thing.  Besides..it freaks my wife if I get too frisky anyway.

Well Brian, despite being a year round rider, (Southern States in winter and the UK in summer) I am virtually a virtual rider. Apart from a 280 mile trip from Tampa to Valdosta last year, each time I ride can be counted in seconds and my total for the year in minutes. ::) ::) ::) Lifes a DRAG baby. 8) 8) 8) 8)

I rode mine winter and summer for about 4 years... until I started dating a gal who didn't like motorcycles (why did I do it?  I don't know!)... and I let the bike sit and rot in a friend's back yard for a few months, then a few more, etc.  After almost 2 years of sitting outside the bike was not in very good shape :-[.  Now I'm trying to resurrect the damn thing, but I keep rethinking what I want to do to it (and spending more money in the process), so I don't know if I'll get it together for springtime.

In summation, used to ride an SOHC, don't now, will again soon?

I don't know what to answer?! Like Sam I'm probably a virtual rider especially at the moment not being able to physically rise. I spend more time on the track than on the road and my SOHC isn't yet ready to ride anywhere. The tuff I do ride when I can though doesn't fit here either....no desmodromic options although maybe that should be DOHC?! Now I'm worrying which answer to tick...decisions decisions!  ;D
