Piston Identification
« on: March 01, 2010, 09:48:20 AM »
Hey Guys,
I'm trying to figure out what pistons I have.  I bought my 836 pistons, bored jugs (Cylinders still have the cross hatching in them), CR carbs, head with RC315 cam in it and a few other things from a guy that is getting out of the game.  Anyway, The only good markings on the pistons are a capital letter C stamped in the center on top of each piston, and markings on each piston saying which side the exhaust is on.  The pistons have cutaways for the valves for clearince at top dead center and that's all the info I have.  The guy thought they were wiseco pistons but wiseco said that there would be a cerial number stamped in the top if they were theirs. The reason I need this information is I need new wrist pin clips and I don't know where to find them.  I ordered them from wiseco thinking they were wiseco only to find out that the clips are totally different.  The clips wiseco sent me are like a wire spring that almost connects at the brake.  The original clips in the pistons I have are round flat springs that wrap almost twice.  I'll try and post pics tonight if I don't hear a responce.  Otherwise, thanks for any info you can offer.

Flip the pistons over and check on the underside for markings.

I didn't mention it, but I did that.  There are oil holes for the wrist pins and an imbossed oval with something written in it but the oil holes are punched threw it so the letters can't be made out.

You could try to see if they look like any of the pistons on this page .
