Hi Andy

I've got a 1970's Brealey Smith fairing mounted on my 550. Fits to the headlight bucket mountings with a brace to fork tree underneath. Made from good quality fibreglass but quite light. Got it on e bay a couple of years ago for £20 here in the UK. Whilst I'm only 5' 6" tall it does take quite a bit of wind blast away. Photo below.

Hey Bob thanks for the photo and that is just what I am looking for! I will need to keep my eye of out for that on Ebay. I like the setup you have on the 550. What side bags are they and how are they mounted?

I found a place in Nottingham selling the Brealey Smith fairings on Ebay:

Any idea where I could find a windscreen for one of these? They can supply the fittings but not the shield. Great value for money!

thanks
Andy

Gustafsson Plastics http://www.bikescreen.com/index.html doesn't seem to have one listed, but may be worth a phone call or email.

Thanks Ekpent for that but a little on the big side unfortunately. Looks like a Dunstall fairing though. I do like it but just not for this project.

cheers

Hi Andy

Not sure where you would get a screen, maybe a search for racing fairings may throw something up. Hope I dont break mine!

Bags and rack are Rickman sold as Honda Britain in the 70's. Panniers bolt to to the rack, but I've modified the set up with big knurled fasteners to enable quick release, not that I take them off that often but helps with maintainance. Box's are fibreglass showing lots of patina.

Good luck with your search.

Those 1st ones from the swamp were a wixom fairing very popular in the 60's for BMW's and actually are very good at protection without alot of squirrelly behavior on the hiway. They are getting harder to find these days. I had one on a 67R69s with side boxes made in England which are also very hard to find

Hey Andy...I haven't forgotten you. I was sidetracked last week when a friend's house was hit by half of a 80' willow tree during Thu. night's storm. The fairing is partly mounted on the bike but there are some annoying hardware issues that I've been messing with along with some shop problems. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow.
