When recovering a seat the little metal tabs sometimes break off.

I see this product on Ebay.

Is this the way to go to solve the problem?

What seat?  I have recovered several seats and most have had a few of the metal 'spikes' break off.  As long as the they are not all missing for several inches, I have not had a problem.  That applies to the seats with a metal trim strip that also tends to balance the pressure on on the vinyil when the rider is sitting on the bike.

I did not watch the video, but the photo shows a strip of spikes that may help if you had a long stretch of the originals that broke off.  Note: They usually only break on badly rusted bases that may need metal repair in other places as well. Another trick is to cover the edging-pad with vinyl-adhesive (spray into cover and brush on with artist brush). Then apply more to the under-side of the seat cover where it will contact the edging.

I ifirst nstall the front and rear of the seat cover. The firmly wrap the sides down to center the cover. place a sinle sheet of plastic bag material over the foam to allow the cover to slide.

I have edited the original post with the bike,  I see this so often where the bike is forgotten, now I have done it too, opps.

I don't actually have the bike yet, I just know the seat is ripped, beyond repair.
I'm am going to get a new cover.

I was wondering what plasitic I should use between the foam and new cover, the thin stuff used in garbage bags seems like it would not stand up.  But I don't know.

Good info about front and rear first, then sides.  I was wondering about that as I new there would be a right way and wrong way.
