way to go! it's never too late to pursue happiness. when it's all over (deathbed) no one thinks I wish I would've not tried this or that. if you want something go for it, if it doesn't work out you're no worse off. and better for the experience!
and you never know where you will find love. after about a million failed attempts I have a great girl. not what I expected, she's about 7 yrs. older than me! but simply an amazing human being.
follow your heart, make yourself happy. even if it ends in pain you will not regret it in the long run. all experiences, positive or negative add to our understanding and eventually we can learn what it takes to achieve happiness if we are not afraid to risk those painful ones.

btw: I get that it's kinda odd for a 34 yr old to give life advice to a 60 yr old, but it's meant in the best way. it just makes my day to hear something good after listening to horrible news and all the other ills of the world all the time.
