CB550 - What size grease zerk...
« on: February 25, 2010, 07:55:12 AM »
...Or nipple

1976 CB550k. I have the single grease zerk fitting on the underside of my swing arm (well had until the powder-coater lost it) I was thinking of stopping by an auto parts store to get a new one and need to know what size I need. I searched but I did not seem to find it.

Dunno, mine has not received grease for a long time. Somehow most greaseguns at dealers can't get the grease in. Parts list says: Nipple, greace B-T6S, Does that help?

have a pic of where it would go?  I pulled the honda-specific fitting off of my 350f, ran a 6mm tap though it and now I can fit a regular grease gun on the fitting.

Not sure if that helps at all.

The other day I drilled out the swing arm bolt ends just a tad under 1/4" tapped them and screwed in a couple of zerks (chrome ones just a few turns longer than the autoparts store brass ones) I picked up at Lowes, works like a charm pumped grease from each side and wiped of the excess that squeezed past the felt washers and end caps on the inside frame surface. 73CB500 does not have a zerk on the under side of the swing arm as you describe maybe someone added one?.

According to the Honda parts fiche its how it came from the factory. WHY they would put one in the middle in a hard to reach place is beyond me.

Maybe I am bad at searching but I could not find it anywhere. I gave up and gave Honda a couple bucks for the correct one.
