Yup, exactly... the shaper method on the lathe..very observant..

.. I thought the tool marks would make someone think water jet or laser..
I have a small shaper, it is tucked away right now.. they are really fun to use. If you locked the spindle (from turning) you could use a milll or a drill, be easier than the lathe, also can be done on shaper, slotter, slotting attackment on mill.
I did not clamp it in the lathe, I slipped it on a mandrel, then turned the chuck.
I did this for a few reasons, mainly to ilustrate that you could actually make parts yourself with little equipment, ie a triple tree with a lathe and a drill press..
