Yamiya Clutch kit?
« on: February 25, 2010, 09:43:10 PM »
Hi has Anyone bought a Clutch kit from Yamiya in Japan? They have two kits, one that looks like it's all Honda OEM parts the other looks aftermarket.

I herd that Honda clutch fibers are the only way to go because the way they have the oil paths differant then all the aftermarkets. Also I've never seen any aftermarkets ones looking like the Honda ones. Which gives me reason to believe that they may actually Honda parts that, and especially how the springs have yellow over spray one them like the Honda ones. Anyone Agree with me?

What's the difference between the two? The aftermarket one on there site says: "Easy to get neutral.
But it is not durable if a high-speed drive is carried out by first gear."

Dose that mean its not as heavy duty? and will slip more? I'd think the a stock clutch would lighter duty then an aftermarket and would be easier to get to neutral or am I wrong?

The difference is in the grooves on the fiber plates.  According to Hondaman's recently published book, the plates with the square cut grooves are stock.  The angled grooves allow more oil to sling through, resulting in softer engagement.

That's odd.. I always thought the sqaure cut one were aftermarket. If you look uo the part #
(22201-371-000 )  on cmsnl and elsewhere it shows them as angled.

On page II-30, Hondaman states:

Quote
All of the CB750K0-K6 cork plates had square-cur friction material.  The CB500 had plates with slant-cut cork blocks, as did some aftermarket clutch plates (and some plates that parts technicians accidentally sold wrong.  In this engine, the slant-cut plates will induce slip: if you find these in your engine, consider replacing them with the proper style plates.  During the 1990s, I experienced this: some Honda parts technicians seemed to have bad information in th parts system, and they gave me (and others I know about) the slant-cut cork plates instead of the right ones.  The slant-cut plates fit the CB500 Hondas and were the top plate in some of the K0/K1 packs with the steel stamping ring, and are also found as the top plate on K7/K8 bikes.  That's a whole 'nother story, but be forewarned about those plates...

My K0 does indeed have square-cut plates except for the top plate which is slant-cut.  I do have the stamped steel ring he mentions.  YMMV.

Still a a little bit confused on which are the correct (stock) ones for the K5.
Is possable that they changed mid years?

-Hondamans book says the square are correct for K0-K6
-Mystic states he has the square ones in his K0
-Honda service Manuel PFD file shows square cut in the pic

-Cmsnl shows a photo of them as angled when type in Honda part # 22201-371-000

- Yamiya said the angled one where Honda ones and more durable then the square cut ones.
- This guy replacing his has the angled ones in his 750

Anyone with a K5 know what you have in yours that is stock?
Also anyone that has ordered clutch fiber disk through Honda, what do you get the square or angled ones?
