throttle return cable
« on: January 15, 2006, 05:02:00 PM »
anyone know where I can buy one?  the parts guy a the local shop told me they aren't making them anymore for the '74.  Is that true?  or am I going to have to make one myself?

also, where was the ignition switch located on the 74 350?  some photos I've seend have it bolted with the handle bar bolts, which is where mine is, is this the original location?

finally, I have no news on the overheated clutch problem I had a few months ago.  I tried opening the clutch cover last night and started stripping the screw heads because the last guy who owned the bike loaded on the f--ing loc-tite- impact driver time...  anyone replaced the soft metal phillips screws w/ drive socket (allen head) screws?

finally finally, I noticed I've been labled a "lurker"  I rather like it, it makes me feel (safely) rogish.

You don't mention what model bike you have, just that its a '74.  Anyway, check over at http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com  they have lots of cables in stock and also custom make cables... very reasonably priced too.

I already looked there. I can't find any specifically for a CB350F. :(

Jonesy,
if you call and ask for Rob, they can make any cable you need.  Don't quote me on this, but if you need shorter cables, they can cut a stock cable and make it shorter for only $8 more than the original cost of the cable.  If you need longer cables, they will have to make it from scratch which costs more..

Check the parts suppliers FAQ, almost guaranteed you can find the throttle cables through one of the places listed.  David Silver spares most likely.

The ignition switch was originally located on the left frame down-tube just above the exhaust headers (you only make the mistake of reaching too far down once :o).

An impact driver is a must have to do any engine work on these bikes.  Some folks replace the screws with the hex head bolts, I have before and will again, but mainly because I like the way they look, not because they work any better.

Welcome aboard! ;D

On my '73, it's on the left, right above the exhaust headers.
