That describes the look of the tire pretty well too. It seems to me they would grab rain grooves pretty well. I wouldn't be surprised by poor handling characteristics, compare that tire to any modern rubber. The tread pattern seems to be purely cosmetic, as this is the type of tread you would see on most any vehicle in the 50s (for example.) I wouldn't trust those in wet weather one bit either.
