anyone here wear motor patrol style boots when they ride?
« on: March 03, 2010, 09:39:02 PM »
just curious, i got a pair with zippered backs at an estate sale a few weeks ago and they appear to be custom or semi custom made with the heavy duty zippers all the way up the back and a steel toe cap. i like the things and i only paid 15 dollars for them and there is no wear to speak of on the soles, i'm just not sure i want to wear something so different from what anyone but motor patrol officers wear.

about the same as these, just a much nicer quality leather and sole

I used to wear some like that but without the laces at the front - UK police boots. I still have them and when I finish my XV750 restoration I will probably use them again. They were fantastic boots on a cruiser, I only stopped wearing them when I got into sportsbikes (went from an XV1100 Yam to a ZZR1100 Kwak....man what a difference!)

theyre kind of similar to the field boots and dressage boots i wore when riding competitvely, these have much thicker and oil resistant soles, and alot of times a steel toe cap.

Hey Bucky..

I think they look cool.  But you're right..they are kinda specific to motor cops.  If it was me..and I got some @ a real good deal..like you did..I'd wear them for a while..just to see if I liked them/the way they feel..etc.

If you like them..and they work for you..then I'd say go for it..regardless of what others may think.

My two cents..

i wore the tall english riding boots for so many years i likely wont even notice these when i wear them. i personally love the things and with the zip back i can actually get them pulled on in less than an hour, unlike the ones i had that didnt have zippers  :D

i decided to say #$%* it and wear the things. i also got several pairs of the wool breeches with heavy armor in the impact areas, these arent like horse riding breeches, more like what nazi officers wore and these are even my bikes colors, a dark blue with a thin silver stripe down the side.

What, I get no credit for finding a German soldier wearing a pith helmet riding a motorcycle?
I thought I did pretty good there.

Besides, how many pith helmets did the Wehrmacht wear in Europe? ;)

You mean The Pickelhaube....(plural Pickelhauben; from the old German Pickel = "point" or "pickaxe", and Haube = "bonnet", a general word for headgear), also "Pickelhelm," was a spiked helmet worn in the 19th and 20th centuries by German military, firefighters, and police. Although stereotypically associated with the Prussian army, the helmet enjoyed wide use among uniformed occupations in the Western world.

Every time I see one of those Pickelhaube's though it makes me think of that old Three Stooges bit where they knock the old Kraut over the head causing him to fall back onto the spike of one setting in a chair and he gets poked in the arse!!! :D :D

I like my women a little big. Natural. Now, they shave this and wax that. It's not right. I love natural women. Big women. This trend in women has to go. Bulomia, anorexia. That's just wrong. You know what will cure that? My special sticky buns. One lick of my sticky buns and your appetite will come right back. ~ RIP Mr. Borgnine  01/24/1917 - 07/08/2012  :'(
