70 gas cap
« on: March 05, 2010, 06:18:53 PM »
Can you still get a gas cap for an early tank? I see them #11 on the parts fische but are they really available? I have a great wrinkle tank but the PO must have pounded the cap closed every time and it's loose. Chrome worn too.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

You can get them, at least I did 3 years ago. They won't have that phillips screw under the cap though. But on the outside they look the same.

Yes, I just got a cap from Honda this week for a1970...$45 Cdn...I just noticed it DOESN"T come with a new rivet to mount it to the tank though. I've noticed some on eBay with a new mounting pin. Guess I'll need that.

Hondaman has a stainless steel bolt and nut affair to replace the pins, both hinge and latch. Much more elegant alternative to the OEM "rivets".

not funky, just an aftermarket cap with a fuel gauge built in. The chain attaches to a float. Float goes down, needle goes towards E. Horribly inaccurate and the float rattling around inside the tank gets annoying.
