« on: March 02, 2010, 05:30:33 PM »
I have been searching around in the search bar for 30 min now trying to find what others have used besides the stock rim, my spokes are all rusted and the rims look like crud... the sizes kinda confuse me some what, the wheel size and rim for my bike is stock ...and as for what I want I would like for the back wheel rim to go wider than stock and the front wheel ...as for the tires I would like to go a little wider than stock for the front and the back ...hope that makes since...any help would make my build even faster, thanks for your help

Cadaver,

Do a search on CB350F, and you'll get some good info on recent rim upgrade discussions.  I don't recommend going with larger rims though.  The larger the rim, the worse the handling.  You'll also want to keep the front and rear tires a somewhat similar size, the reasons for which you can read in one of TwoTired's recent posts.  We don't have enough power coming out of our engines to need the greater heat absorption capability of a larger tire either.

FYI, my roommate just found an option for 18lbs total wheel weight (or for a bit more money you can get to 15lbs) to replace the 50-60lbs of wheel weight you are currently hauling around.  Search on maaseyracer to find his posts.

Hey Cadaver-

Depending on your budget, you might consider buchananspokes.net.  They have every size rim you could ever want, and they'll calculate the right size spokes to lace them on to your stock hubs.  Plus, it's not as expensive as you'd think.

Building wheels is NOT HARD, really.  If you study any number of how-to's on the internet and take your time, it's practically fool proof (Hell, I did it so it must be!).

You'd end up with the nicest wheels possible!
