There is one of these posted here for $3200. Good luck to them, I suppose.

Considering the $13k+ that mint sandcasts are going for.... I can see where some might think that number feasable.

Hahahaha, this reminded me to do my daily CL search. Upon doing so I see that the guy from this thread is still trying to peddle this heap and hasn't reduced the price one penny over the course of almost a year. Some people just seem to have inflated ideas of what things are worth.

Like I said.... considering what some poeple will pay, everyone with non particular knowledge of these bikes would think that they are all the same.

Therefore giving them the idea that they have something actually valuable to everyone and not just a select few.

And that other bike is crap.... $100 tops.

At least.  I'd pay $13,000 for a mint sandcast right now.  Saw one on eBay (not mint) that someone bid $18,000 for.  Didn't sell.

I suppose the common percweption is that vintage is rare and expensive. So without researching much one might think a cb750 is worth as much as it's Brittish counterparts.

I offered that guy a hundred and he argued with me, stating that three hundred fifty was a bargain for that bike.

Bingo... and the British Vintage is only expensive here in the US. Over there and in Europe.... it's dirt f-ing cheap.

For example.... a decent restoration of an Ariel Four would cost me about $20k easy here. There it would be far less as the parts could be found in some old codger's shed. Probably with the wax paper still wrapped.

Around where I am, I would say he is asking about $1000 too much. The bike does look nice and clean in the pics, but a close up inspection would be needed. I could see it going for $2500 if it really is a turn-key-&-ride machine. It would have to be a lot fancier, though, to get the $3500.

3500US mint maybe...but the buyer would have to be local.  Shipping costs or pickup....nobody is gonna drive across the country to pick that up.  Turns it into a 5000+US bike.  If it was actually rare and not just old/vintage...then he'd have already spent the money he made on an '85 thinking it's just that much better :D
