Topic: How do I remove these three screws on a '72 cb750 rotor?

Does anyone know how to remove these screws on a '72 CB750 rotor?  There's three of them and they seem to be clamped down along that line.  I'm trying to remove the starter clutch.

Drill out the staking and take an impact driver to the screws.

Drill them out, save yourself a lot of hassle....and broken impact bits

I am actually curious as to why you need to remove them, but I will be honest I don't relay know what that bit does. I have studied mine a bit and see what moves where, but I can't work out its purpose but haven't researched it yet either.

I think that's where the starter clutch rollers go........

So why do you want to take those out?

Thanks for all the replies. The reason for removing them is because I'd like to replace the rollers. I've had a difficult time trying to fit the new ones and I figured removing the starter clutch would make things easier. Am I wrong in believing this?

The rollers should just push or fall out.

If your rollers are having trouble grabbing or it might be intermittent, check the face of the surface they roll against on the gear. Mine was worn pretty badly and it wasn't really round/smooth anymore. I have 2 spares and used the best of the 3.

No real reason you should have to remove the clutch housing as Frank says. Keep playing with it, you'll figure it out.

The only reason to remove those screws is if they are loose, the springs, caps and roller should fit easily with the housing in place

The spring caps can seem to be difficult to load in place but they will go once you figure it out. Hold those in place then insert the roller.

I take them off to drill out weight for kick only bikes and the racer had the rotor external, the only way flat cover would fit is with the starter stuff off .
 If the rotor was off and got bumped hard the rollers may be harder to get out, and may not be working properly.. I suspect that may be you problem. Can probaly fix that without removing tin cover.
