Topic: Ezee Adjust brake nut for Honda Four brakes.

 Just got this idea this afternoon, so I whipped a couple up.

 Knurled nut, to replace the hex adjuster on the stock drum brakes. Ever adjust your brake, go for a spin, and a few miles later.. wished you had adjusted it a tad looser or tighter..

 Well this will fix that, and you saw it here first..

 Pics will be up soon, have the first test unit on a bike right now...

My only concern would be some idiot or an unsupervised child playing with the adjustment on a parked bike.  Of course there are other things that could be messed with too but the knurled nut might particularly invite tampering.  I find that with a bit of antisieze on the stock nut that it is easily turned by hand. Spring keeps it from moving after adjustment.  Still your part does look nice and I would guess you that would sell a bunch on ebay for instance.  Should work on a number of different bikes . . . .

Norton motorcycles had them as standard on their 1960's bikes.

Good modification though.  No one ever "tampered" with it all the time I had it.  Some brit bikes had wing nuts on the rear brake rod that could also be used to adjust easily.

I do remember an incident where a father of a boy knocked on my buddie's door to ask him to move his bike which was parked outside my buddie's house.. "Why should I move it" ? he asked.

"Because my son just burnt his hand on the hot exhaust"!  No, he didn't move it but I bet the kid didn't interfere with hot exhausts ever again.

Great idea. I'd even be curious if the knurked part is large enough diameter, I'd want it to be real easy to turn. The brakes can stand to be twqeaked depending on one's load and ride height. I would do it more often if i could.

I'd want a decorative cone shape or such coming off the backside and I'd buy one. I spent $15 for a decorative one (chrome with a cone) from a chopper shop on line. I'd double that for the knurls.  I'm assuming its stainless?

 Yes, its my part in the pic, thanks 1080 for posting it.

 Its alum, first prototype, only thought of this Fri afternoon.

 I will use aluminum, its stronger than the stock die-cast material, and wont rust.
 
 I can make it a bit bigger on the knurl, but oiled up it works fine, on mine the spring on rid is almost bottomed, a bit harder to turn but  I like the size.

 Not done with it yet, I will change the flat end to a radiused bump or a U groove, or several choices.

 Price will be 10.00 or less, with Quantity discounts.

 They can be rolling out the door by end of next week, along with the starter and tach plugs, and Exhaust clamps..

I'll post a picture of the one I have to see the decorative touch. A bit over the top for most, but its what I would want. I'll take one either way.

Aluminum would be fine, can be polished.

Of all the bits that have been developed this is one of the most relevant. Smack your 4 head and say "V8".  Just like knurled cable adjusters etc.

If a vandal wanted to mess with a bike, unadjusting the cables would be quick and way annoying. Never heard of it happening.

Fast Fred did say Norton had them back in the day.
