My brother in law just got one..barn find with title for 100 bucks.  He was told it has a 2cd gear problem.  he got it started an rode it for awhile to confirm this. he brought it to me and i rode it.  I was told these bikes are notorious for 2cd gear failure. so what is the most common problem with them...shift forks?   I have already pulled the clutch cover and discoverd a new, properly installed clutch, so i pulled the exhaust and dropped the oil pan to have a look at the gears conditions.  Guess what i found?   Oil pump bolt laying in the bottom of pan.  Also found the missing gear shift arm return spring laying in there also...broken.  But no other metal..so we good there.  Do you all think this could be why this bike doesnt have 2cd gear...or do i need to finish pulling the motor to get the shift forks out?
