It's that time again! The swap meet and show is Sunday April 18'th.  http://www.classicbikeswapmeet.com/home.html  It's a great time with lots of old bikes of all kinds being shown off in the parking lot, a large swap meet and classic bike show inside. The VJMC will have a booth too. A great way to start the season. My K0 won't be ready so I'll be there on one of the K1's. A CB750 sandcast won best in show last year, first time a Japanese bike won.
Seaweb should be there too.?
Cliff.

Thought I would bump this as it is coming up in a couple of weeks.

Who's planning on being there?
I thought I might again attempt to organize at least a beer break upstairs this year 8)

I know Cliff and I park in the same place every year and it would be good to have all the sohc members join us.
Below is a drawing of the site and where we always park. Not exactly to scale ;)

Here is what I am riding this year. Put yours pics up Cliff, so they can find you in the morning.

Man, that's one fine-looking 750!! I'd love to be there, but a transcontinental ride is out of the question right now ;D

Is that the 'Doris York' in the background?

Brian

Not sure of the vessels name. It is a rail car transport boat that goes between Nanaimo and Vancouver.
Found this though, seems to fit ;D

"Another interesting barge built in British Columbia in 1967 was the 320-foot self-propelled trailer and rail car barge Doris Yorke of 3,000 tons, constructed by Victoria Machinery Depot for Vancouver Island-mainland operation by F. M. Yorke & Son. Gordon Newell, Maritime Events of 1967, H. W. McCurdy Marine History of the Pacific Northwest 1966 to 1976, p.XXXIX."

"A double-deck railway train and trailer transport, the self-propelled barge Doris Yorke, the last vessel launched at Victoria Machinery Depot before the yard was closed, was placed on the Canadian Pacific Railway run from Vancouver to Nanaimo, replacing the earlier single-deck barge Greg Yorke, which transferred to the Canadian national route between Tilbury Island and Victoria. The 325 x 56.8-foot Doris Yorke, powered by four Caterpillar diesels geared to twin-screw shafts, was designed to carry 25 rail cars on her main deck and 26 trailers on the upper deck. She was placed in service by F. M. Yorke & Son Ltd in charge of Capt. Desmond Rogers-Tilston, formerly master of the ferry Island Princess running between Alert Bay and Kelsey Bay. Gordon Newell, Maritime Events of 1968, H. W. McCurdy Marine History of the Pacific Northwest 1966 to 1975, p.42.

I am trying to get there.
Will not be selling this year, want to visit & see stuff this time.

May help some buddies sell stuff,  but am not getting married to a table this time..

Would like to go for supper at the pub on the water in Ladner, if anyone can spare some time.. And that can be right after the meet..

Thanks for the info - a Blast From The Past, as it were! After writing, I remembered that they had changed the names from the Greg and Doris Yorke to the Seaspan Greg and Seaspan Doris. We used to run across them (not literally ;D) frequently while working the Strait of Georgia and Howe Sound. Makes me feel old.... ;)

You guys have a good meet!!

How in the hell do you get there from WA; up & around through the Peace Arch, or is there a ferry to the Tsawwassen terminal?

Through the Peace Arch. Take highway 99 to highway 17 which is the turn off 99 to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal. There's lots of signs for the ferry terminal turn off. Take that to the Tsawwassen city turnoff. You'll turn left at the lights and then you'll see the site come up on your left. If it's a decent day you'll see lots of bikes heading there to follow.

Thanks Cliff; Looks pretty straightforward.  I was just hoping there was a more scenic alternative to slabbing it the whole way there.

If you're going you should try and stop by the laboratory here on your way up or back!

745, this is your last chance ;D

At 1:00 PM the 5th official BC/WA SOHC meeting will commence in the bar upstairs. It could be a short meeting as the reading of the 2005-2010 minutes should not take long ::)

Or it could go on all day, hard to tell. Please arrive with your cell phones turned off as we intend on making some very critical decisions on the future of this soon to be awesome group of people in one place.......that means every one!  ;)
