I have started doing some work on my '80 CB650C recently. I'd picked up a few things off of ebay, Mickey and a gas tank from Terry (cb650, not TIA). Well, Terry's gastank didn't have a gas cap, but the leaking tank I got with the bike, had a good cap w/a key. So a day or 2 ago, I pulled the gas tank off of the bike (the P.O. had put an '82 tank on there) and then I put the '80 tank on there. Then I started looking for the old leaky tank, to get the gas cap. I could not find that tank anywhere. I looked in my garage (which is full) but I should have been able to see it and couldn't. I looked in my building out back, nothing! I looked in my storage unit, nothing! I EVEN looked in the back of my van AND in the house! I've been looking off and on for 2 or 3 days! I had not found that tank anywhere! I even called my buddy Eddie and asked him if I gave the tank to him to fix the leaks and I hadn't. As a last ditch effort, I once again went out to the building out back. I opened the doors, turned on the light and there, on my CB550 frame (that I started on a Cafe build several years ago and didn't get very far with), was that gas tank sitting there and the thing is, I had put my hand on the frame and DID NOT SEE THE TANK,
with "THE GAS CAP", that I had been looking for all this time! ::) :-[
I just could not figure out why I was overlooking something as big as that gas tank! ::)

Guess it was some of those SENIOR MOMENTS! ::)

i was looking all over the house for my keys, tore the kitchen, my bedroom and my office apart looking for them (i misplace my keays at least one a day) and i couldnt find the things anywhere. my wife asked what i was looking for and i told her "my keys" she started laughing and pointed to my left hand, the hand that was holding the keys. i had them in my hand the whole time.

Lost the keys too, tore the house apart.  Finally in desparation, I borrowed my wifes keys and left...went to lock the door to the house but I couldn't because MY FRIGGIN KEYS WERE STILL IN THE LOCK!
Senior moment I guess.

Hey, droopysbetterhalf, good to have you here! I've got a problem with keys myself, now and then. Usually though, I lose bigger things! ;)

I keep misplacing the checkbook,
but it's not a big deal as usually there is no more than $15.oo in it. :P

Oh man, I did something like that recently. I carry my checkbook and my Dad's, in my back pocket (I don't know where else to put his) and my Dad's has more than mine, for sure! I was at a friend's, one Monday morning and we were doing our paperwork (timesheets and such) that we have to turn in every Monday to get paid. Well, we finished up and went our separate ways. About 1PM, I realized that both checkbooks were gone and I looked everywhere I could think of, without finding them! I knew that I hadn't been too many places and that I shouldbe able to find them. I called my friend and we met so I could borrow the key to the place and sure enough, both checkbooks were laying on the floor by the chair I had been sitting in! ::) Man, I was relieved! I know this is a bit different than the original intent of this thread, but I wanted to relate that story. I DO keep closer tabs on them  now! ;) (Mine didn't have that much, but my Dad's did and I needed his to pay his bills)

I lost a crank pulley spacer for my race car. I was sure it was in a cabinet I looked everywhere for 2 weeks, finally I ordered new ones. Then there it was, hanging on a hook on the outside of the cabinet.

Yeah, I can understand that, because it sound like sonething I'd do (or have done). :D

Matter of fact, it brings to mind when I needed to work on a dirt bike sometime back and could not find my hand impact. I looked all over the place. OI try to make it a habit to put my tools and stuff back up, after I'm done, but apparently I didn't do that with the hand impact. So, I went to Sears and bought another one (the one I couldn't find, was a Snap-On that I'd had for a very long time) and, some time later, I found the other one, while I was looking for something else! ::)
