What can the 750 guys tell me about this bike
« on: March 06, 2010, 01:19:49 PM »
This just appeared on Trade-me and actually belongs to an old aquaintance, I suspect because of the pannier bag configuration and the spare white tank that it was once a Police bike.
I know jack-all about the 750 apart from the wish to have one in my shed and if it can be an ex patrol bike then even better.

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Like is the white tank with the flip top the correct one for the bike or the yellow one with the chrome cap which is fitted to the bike?

Ha ha, I can just imagine Hushy sitting there looking at the pics, one hand on the keyboard and one hand somewhere else lower down, saying, "oooooher, another cop bike, I think.......... I'm.......... in love..........."

Sadly mate, it's just a manky old K6, I don't think Honda was still making "K" series cop bikes in 1976, they were riding "F's" here by then, and unless that bike has been heavily "civilianised" (white frame repainted, single seat and top box replaced, white fenders replaced, cop speedo replaced, cop switchblocks replaced, white chain guard replaced, and so on and so forth.

Still, it's probably worth 500 - 1000 bucks mate, it'd be a total restoration deal, but most of the large bits are there. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

That spare front wheel does not go with that bike. The disks are all wrong. Looks like a Kawi disk.

I once bought a CB360 that looked stock but when I started the restore I found the frame was originally white and a few other anomolies until I twigged it was an ex copper. ;D
Anyhow looks like it's going to fetch a high price and with so much to do to return it to stock I think I'll flag it. :)

I think the front wheel is an F model wheel.
Oddly enough, it looks like it has 2 spots for 2 speedo cables. Didn't some of the cop bikes have 2 speedo's? (one for actual speed of bike, 1 for locking the speed of the "offender")

Good choice. I saw your quote on political Correctness. To me it looks like a Dog's breakfast.

I'm betting you are right Fishy, as you say they had one for the bike and one they could stop as they followed a speeder, that plus the white tank which is def ex cop 750 makes it almost certain, wonder where the rest of that old copper chopper is? ;)
I'd like just the tank as a shed piece.

Hey Bobby, I'm with you on the attitude quote, I'm supposed to be at a work mates funeral (he died Friday aged 62 of bone cancer) but Muzz was an interesting and very likable fellow who spent as much time in his sheds (yes he had lots of stuff...good stuff) as he could.
I hauled my uniform out and was pinning on the medals when it occurred to me that if he was gonna be anywhere it would be lurking in my shed....hung the No1's back in the closet and wandered out to the shed.....here's to ya Muzz.  :)

Do the gauges look small and mismarked to anyone else?

The gauges look like 350/400/450 gauges.
