On the weekend I scored another CB750K0 diecast, engine number CB750E-1010986, frame number unkown, (yet) and I'd like to know when it was built?

My January 1970 K0 is 102XXXX, so I'm guessing the one I've just "scored" is mid to late 1969, but can anyone help with a specific month? If this info is in the FAQ's my apologies. Cheers, Terry.

Probably Oct or Nov 69 build..

Terry, did you know that they actually upgraded from those diecast models?
You should look for something a bit more modern!

Terry, if you want to supply me the complete frame number and £40 GBP I will write to Honda GB and they will get the build date from Honda Japan in about 6-8 weeks BUT some of the early ones come back as year only due to incomplete records in Japan

Once you have the bike and the frame # along with the motor #, you might want to go to the new Sandcast Owners forum site. Those folks know an awful lot about the first year + on the 750's. As a member of the SOHC4 forum, you will be welcomed right away and Steve Swan will be happy to help you out I'm sure.

From mine which is a few hundred earlier (Oct 1969) I would agree with Oct/Nov 1969

Thanks Guys, well sadly the frame is not a K0 item, it's a K2. No biggie, I'll probably just sell the 1969 engine cases to help go toward paying for the bike and (heaps of) spares I'm picking up on Saturday. Cheers, Terry.

My K0 is 12681 with an 11/69 build date so I would agree probably October/November too.

My K0 is 11/69 10141xx frame number. I am looking for an appropriate numbered engine for it.

Probably true, as dealers in this period, in USA could take the MSO's from unsold bikes (manufactures statements of origin) and send back to AHM (American Honda Motor Co) and get new MSO"s with next years date on them...in order to sell the bikes as a year newer.

Who would have known that in the future, "old older... would be better"?

I remember talking to some friends in the early '70's about the early 750 one of them had. We all commented about how it was too bad that if he had only waited a bit he could have gotten one with the nicer motor. I'm not sure but I don't think we called them sandcasts back then. I still remember exactly what I was doing and where I was when I saw, and heard, my first one. Been hooked on them ever since. Wish I had that bike now.

Ha ha, I was just saying that to tease one of the "sandcast snobs" here mate, but if I was serious, I could get them done here, my cuz is a vintage car nut and he's just bought a little French sports car from the 1920's, called a Voixon. (pronounced "Vwarson")
Anyway, he paid 20 grand just for a rolling chassis with front scuttle, but the guy who owns the only other one in Oz has loaned him the complete engine and transmission assembly so that he can get the 14 or so individual assemblies cast in aluminum, and he'll then have to fab a lot of the mechanicals too.

The hardest thing with casting parts is that if you want really good sharp castings (unlike my first RC block) all the "boxes" (moulds) have to be made from wood, and you have to "grow" them so that they are slightly larger than the actual item you are casting, to allow for shrinkage, as it cools. Once you've got your rough casts, you have to clean them up, machine the mating surfaces, drill and tap all the stud holes etc. Probably too much work for me, but it could be done. I think the sandcast guys are safe from some "sandcast sacrilege" for a little while longer.............

Do you have an engine in it now Don? I've got a set of unstamped diecast cases here, you can put any number on them that you like!
