exhaust cam chaim removal
« on: March 01, 2010, 05:39:37 PM »
Hey,

This has probably been asked and answered a few times before, but trying to navigate these forums can be a headache.

I'm tearing down my '82 Honda CB750C, to put in some new rings and do a rebore. I have the head off, and the intake cam out, but can't get the cam chain off the exhaust cam. I've done it by the Clymer manual, but am obviously missing something about releasing the cam chain. Have loosened both the front and back chain adjustment bolts, but still can't get it to release.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Keep Cruisin. SCRC 209.

Hi 209.The Clymer proedure is correct. It is critical that you pull up hard on the rear tensioner to give maximum slack.I also lock both rear nuts rather than just lower one as stated in manual. Good luck and Rock On
