But, there's no sense in owning an SOHC these days apart from hobby, and prices are set to crash.........Talk of the SOHC's being useful for 50 more years is just wishfull thinking.

A SOHC will continue being useful as long as it functions as a motorcycle....no wishful thinking there ;-). No reason a CB750 cant be rode across the USA, Europe or round the world...still useful for that ;). For some it may be a hobby but for others its still a mode of transport - the essence of motorcycling - getting from A to B in the best way possible.

if this people can do it on this other 'sohc4' then surely a 750 can handle it

I saw that already - very cool ride report and shows my point exactly! Are they getting much press in Denmark Strynboen? (or Norway where I think they are from).

There has already been a CB750 round the world in 1973 -a Finnish guy did it 2-up  ;D

cheers

Very cool strynboen that you make parts for them! I just started reading their reports and they are very cool guys. I wish I had read their blog last week as they were giving a slide show in NYC! I guess they are heading back to Norway after this? Any idea?

cheers

Isn't that what's supposed to happen to Harleys too?
Cliff.

(Well, it's not as though they made Harleys for 10 years and then just quit. Overall, not much has really changed with them and they were considered good bikes but let's face it, none of them made the impact that the CB750 did. My Sportster can't keep up with the sport bikes of today (or yesterday) but it is still considered the sport bike of Harleys. Do I see many old harleys on the road or being resurrected? Nope. There isn't much interest because of the lack of change, I suspect. No nostalgia points when your current bike looks/sounds the same as a 50yo version. No need to keep 'em on the road past their original use for most Harley riders. )

(I'm not aware of any part of the world where they are throwing old Harleys away, They are probably the most re-produced and copied product anywhere. There aren't any around here I consider affordible as a project bike. Besides if you saw on old one going down the road how could you tell it from a new one?
I was here when the Honda 750 was introduced and it was the baddest player available in all respects. I used to love to torture Harley guys even with my 500 honda. I couldn't get a race from any harley guys I knew because of the embarrasment factor it I won.)
