Hi Guys, My first post, although have been reading many, I'm from Queensland Oz..
I have been collecting HP parts and want to build a replacement engine for my Rickman it had a 71mm 1000cc MTC and was leaking oil everywhere from the gooped up barrels, in 1975-76 i built a RCE 70mm 970cc and had much the same problem it went bloody good and not much could get near it just messy... so i am over the oil leaks from seeing sleeves... wind the clock on thirty five years and i am at it again..Sucker...
For my new project i have the following Lightened RC Crank, lightened RC rotor, Yoshi Alloy Superrods, a Norris RX3 billit cam if anybody has info on it i would be greatfull, a RC adjustable cam sprocket, a RC ported head with Manley ss oversize valves and heavy springs and alloy retainers, a Barnett clutch and a gearbox with undercut dogs, a welded up clutch hub, heavy Duty barrel studs, i have a set of 29mm smooth bores and my question is as far as piston kits,
What do you think i should use?
I have the following available
a New Powerall 64.75mm 830cc Kit barrels are bored and ready to go, dome piston with teflon buttons.
i have a nice used set of Venolia forged 66.5 mm flat top pistons they weigh aprox .167 grams bare without rings and pins
I have a new set of Henry Abe 67mm 895cc cast slipper pistons they weigh aprox .175 grams again bare without pins or clips, C/w new cast iron sleeves.
and a set of new Henry Abe 67mm 895cc cast flat top pistons that weigh aprox .181 grames bare. The barrels are resleved and bored ready to go.
which do you think, i believe that i could also use the Henry Abe sleeves with the venolias at 66.5 and have the Henry Abes as a back up at 67, those sleeves dont need the cases machined.. thanks Tom
