Price and selection-wise, your best bet is sitting right in front of you -- the internet and the mail. Granted, I know the argument about helping to keep the small local guy in business, but really these places provide awful mechanic service, make it a pain in the ass to order parts, cater 90% toward squids, have really bad attitudes, and are really expensive.* Are they worth saving, when Dennis Kirk, Z1, Bike Bandit and JCWhitney all provide good service, good prices and don't talk back?
*Except for Honda Bob in Mamaroneck, but that's kind of a hike from the city if you don't have a car and an afternoon.
