Currently en route.

Top "bike" was the one he used to build it, bottom bike is what it's going on.

Totally stoked.

I'll post up pics once I get it and install it...

Smart money says it goes from the box directly to the bike.

Where's this from? Is this a one off, or are they available? How much was it, if you don't mind me asking?

is the rear section a hard part or is the seat pan totally flat and that cowled section at the rear foam?

Its a reproduction from a guy in California, Classic Cycle City.

Its a fiberglass shell so its nice and light!

The pan mounts with existing stock hardware and utilizes the seat lock and hinge.

I will post more details when it arrives next week.

I don't want to post price as this is one of his first runs of the 500/550, but he makes one for the 750 and sells it on eBay for around $400.

My wife loves me enough to have bought me this for my birthday!

SCORE again!

Darn, I knew I should have neatened up that end of the shop before I took those hurried photos!  ::)

Thanks for your support, Guys. I'm glad you like the Classic Cycle City seat. To elaborate on the design...

It took forever to develop the CB500/550 seat. It looks like the CB750 seat, but that's about where the similarity ends. The location of the factory lock and hinge requires a wider seat pan than the CB750K, therefore a new ($$$) mold. Plates for the OEM factory hinge had to be designed and sourced, and the support structure of the CB500/550 frame necessitated a different configuration of Honda OEM support rubbers and a new supporting insert for the inside of the hump. The location of every element was critical to a few millimeters or the seat didn't sit as solidly as we wanted nor fit the original frame mounts.

Whew what a PITA, but the final result was worth all the efforts. If you think the top is nice, you should see the bottom. No "plywood and wood screws into the frame" for the CCC seats - it mounts just like the factory seat! The glass is the same aviation grade used in the interiors of executive jets; beautiful and strong.

Regarding the hump: It's fiberglass with (normally) an open space below. In this case, the space is occupied with a full-size panel that allows for a support rubber at the rear frame crossmember so the seat has excellent front-to-rear stability. Our company (and personal) goal is to make the world's best quality accessories for the SOHC's.  :)  Thanks again!  Ted "Ricky Racer" McCarty San Diego, CA

I didn't even realize you were on here, Ted!

For the record, I recommend doing business with Ted and CCC. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely prompt and patient with my numerous emails and questions...

If the seat is HALF as good as the service, I am a happy customer.

Thanks, man!

keep it up, if they don't fly off the shelves right away I bet guys will be saving up for one. I'd really like to have one when I get a couple long rides out of my system and rebuild my bike for more show and less go.

Thanks, BOXNIFE! Since each seat is individually hand made here in San Diego, availability is a real problem.  We're no different than any of the members of this board; we're just fellow bike enthusiasts trying to do something special with limited tools and funds, but big dreams.

At the absolute most we can currently produce only about one seat a day, and we're now doing seats for the CB500, CB550, CB750 K0-6, and CB750 K7-8.  And I'm an olphart!

If you'd like to see more of what goes into each seat, take a look at http://www.classiccyclecity.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=47. We will consistently always try to exceed your expectations.

Thanks again.  RR
