would it be possible to install the jug, head and valve cover from a '76 550 on a lower end from a '72 500? If you switched out the pistons at the wrist pins...

The larger cylinder liners are a very tight fit in the 500 case. The liners in the 550 are a larger diameter to accomodate the larger bore. Usually have to enlarge the openings in the 500 case a bit.

Why not fit the whole engine? The 550 clutch was better (I've had both)
