76 Cb750k with a weird carb issue after cleaning
« on: March 15, 2010, 07:32:00 PM »
Hey everyone,  I just got a 76 cb750k, just after getting my 74 cb350f all done. Here is my problem, I removed my carbs from the cb750, disassembled and cleaned them and have reassembled, I did not remove them from the rails, left them on the rail, I left them soak in simple green for a few days, they were not fully dunked in simple green, then cycled them halfway submersed in a small ultrasonic cleaner, they sat out for days and now the carb slides hardly move! I installed them on the bike and put the cables on and lubed all the linkage with pb blaster and they barely move with the twist throttle. IDK??? I do not know what could have happened. Yes, the cables moved  fine before and the cables are installed correct, lol.

Carbs are spotlessly clean and have new bowl gaskets and needle/seats installed. They are on the bike now, Just do not know what happened here. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Any input or suggestions would be very appreciated!

I hate to even ask the question, i did not drop them or knowingly damage them.

         Thanks!!

Maybe the parts you can see are spotlessly clean. But my hunch is that everything else is filthy. And it wouldn't surprise me if rust had formed somewhere during those days just sitting after the ultrasonic bath. The only way to do a set of carbs and expect good results is with a total teardown.
