500/550 carb "gasket / bushing thing" ?
« on: March 15, 2010, 07:32:17 PM »
I have finally ventured into the realm of COMPLETE dis-assembly  of my 500 carbs, which I knew was going to be a pain in the arse.
Anyway, what is up with the "gasket / bushing thing", and is it essential to replace? I do not see a part # for it on the Honda Fiche,
I'm sure I could make something similar, but it has a nice fancy pleat in it.
mine may be salvageable..

I think your talking about a dust shield, mine fell off a long time ago. i don't even think you can buy them anymore.

that makes sense, to keep dirt out of the springs in the adjustment mechanism....mega over engineering on these carbs..750s way simpler.
Thanks

Yeah mine were toast on my CB400f as well.  I didn't replace them (of course I haven't put a mile on the bike since, as I'm mid-rebuild still)
