Topic: Brake Light only works with rear brake. Where to start?

My brake light will only work when the rear is used. Where should I start looking for problems? Any suggestions?

Check the wire diagram for your bike.

I think they all came stock with hydraulic pressure switches for the front brake light. This is mounted on a machined block on the triple tree, follow the hose from the master cylinder and it goes directly to the switch block. The switches sometimes fail but maybe a wire has just fallen off. The two wires on the switch go into the headlight shell and join the main harness in there.
Modified braking systems should have some brake light switch on the front. Often a master cylinder with a mechanical switch is used, sometimes a "switch banjo bolt" is used, usually on the master cylinder outlet.

My bike did the same thing. Turns out the front switch, which is mounted in the brake lever perch and is actuated by the lever itself had come loose and was pushed out of the hole it sits in. Might check that
