Swingarm for CB550K
« on: January 21, 2006, 12:00:32 PM »

I know I've seen the question on swingarms before but, I don't think it was actually answered.

    My questions are:

          1.  Will the CB650 & 750 swingarms fit my 550?
          2.  If so, will either one or both change the angle of the rear shocks and what about length?
          3.  Lastly, does anyone know of a swingarm that will bolt in (with no or little modifications)
that would allow the shocks to lay down some and/or at least be a little longer than stock?

Thanks guys, I'm wanting to build a one of a kind 550 that is not ugly, like that 750 that
we've been hitting on for a while now, but low and mean looking in an appealing sort of
way and I've seen alot of good ideas with a lot of good info from you guys. I just hope
that my 550 can measure up to those that I've seen on this sight. I can't believe it took
me so long to find SOHC4.      Later-on,   Bill :)

The 750 and 500/550 have the same bushes and pivot collar so they ought to fit at that end but i have no idea as to length or any other "rub" problem

Hi Bill,
Why don't you buy a really grubby, rusty cheap one from a breaker for a couple of quid and then you can do a real comparison before committing to something more expensive.

Yeah guys, what I'm wanting, is a lower look with the rear shocks tilted back slightly at the
base. I hope to be able to have some lowering blocks sometime next month and that may be just
the trick. I've got 2 550's that I hope to be able to build on. I'm trying to get a a plan made on
as much as I can of what I want to do on this particular one. As I go along on the 1st one, I hope
to get ideas for the 2nd one. I'd better go for now, I'm starting to confuse myself.  Bill
