1974 cb 750 chain
« on: March 18, 2010, 10:51:07 PM »
I just got this 74 750 running.  I haven't worked on bikes very much.  the chain is very loose , even when you try to tighten it, it just looks all stretched. I assume these wear out. so can anyone tell me which chain to get for this, and about how much these run??  Also I thought I read somewhere that when you replace the chain, you should replace the sprocket???

Welcome to the boards. Yes, when you replace the chain you should replace the front and back sprocket or you will wear out the new chain real fast. Go to your local Honda dealer and have them size it for you. I just put an EK 530SRX Quadra X ring chain on my K4 which is a 100 link chain. If you stay with the OEM sprockets it will work. I paid about $90 for this chain which has rubber O rings between the links to hold the oil better. You can also just go with a standard chain and keep it lubed as that will be cheaper. Go to the FAQ section there is a spot there "chains and sprockets" that will help you out. Post some pics of your K4 when you get a chance.
